My quest to get p2p video players working… otherwise known as the Peace Cup update
By: Melissa | June 16th, 2008To make a long story short, the thought of using any Microsoft product makes me violently angry and Apple’s os x is too bloated for my tastes. I’ve been a Linux only user for years which usually suits me just fine and for any internet media related thingamabob out there on the internets, I’ve found a Linux alternative that allows me to view, listen, and appreciate it just as much as everybody else. So now I’m in the p2p world, trying to catch Euro streams and tracking down somewhere, anywhere that might show the Peace Cup. Here’s what I got: Tvants has the MBC ESPN channel listed on their main tracker. It is apparently the Korean sports channel and it’s showing the games. But it appears that no-one is streaming that channel anymore (same goes for ESPN2 *sigh*). Anyone know a Tvants channel that is streaming MBC ESPN? Here’s the upcoming USWNT Peace Cup schedule (times are ET)
June 17 USA vs. Brazil 2 p.m. / 1 a.m.
June 19 USA vs. Italy 5 p.m. / 4 a.m.
That’s right US fans. Time to pour yourself a night cap, get comfortable in bed, fire up the laptop, and search for a signal. Good luck to everybody! And for effs sake, if you are successful, share the love. Pahleeese.
It also appears that the Pandora tv player is showing the games live. I swear I can’t keep up with all these players and channels.
On June 15th, the USWNT took on Australia for their first Peace Cup game. The final score was 2-1 for the US with goals by Natasha Kai and Abby Wambach. The official match report is here.
