The USWNT win but I lose

That’s right. They beat Canada 1-0 in the Peace Queen Cup final. Angela Hucles scored the winning goal two minutes into stoppage time and won herself the MVP title for the tournament.
Here’s a lovely snippet from US Soccer’s match report:

The win gave the USA its fourth tournament title of the year after previously downing China in January for the championship of the Four Nations Tournament, defeating Denmark for the Algarve Cup title in March and triumphing over Canada in penalty kicks in the final of CONCACAF Women’s Olympic Qualifying in April.

Congratulations. And here’s a lovely quote from Hucles:

I think this is great preparation. This tournament has been high quality games against top level opponents. We’ve been in pressure situations, obviously a final match like this coming down to the wire, you can’t get anything better than that. I can’t think of anything better to get us ready for Beijing ’08.

There are still a few more friendlies on the horizon before the Olympics. And don’t forget the Brazil matches (July 13 and 16) are on teee veeee.

As for me - well… I tried to fight a traffic ticket and I lost. I know my dilemma is not nearly as dramatic as participating in this tournament, but I am pretty annoyed about the whole thing. And I discovered yesterday that one immediately gives up the option for traffic school when one challenges a ticket. Oops. Now, my only recourse is to appear before a judge and beg and grovel to be granted traffic school. Cross your fingers and wish me luck y’all.
