WPS announces deal with Puma
By: Melissa | December 15th, 2008Today WPS announced a $10 million deal with Puma to be the official sport and lifestyle apparel, footwear and equipment supplier of WPS, including the official WPS Match Ball. Puma will also outfit players for whatever off-field events. But apparently this deal won’t trump players who have existing contracts with competitors. And seeing as Marta, Leslie Osborne, and Heather Mitts already have deals with the brand, I think this little caveat isn’t going to be much of a problem. So perhaps the players (and staff?) are going to get boxes of free Puma crap sometime soon and, if so, I’m totally jealous! Check out this crazy pink golf club bag, retailing for $90. Yikes!

I bet our commish, Tonya, could totally rock that bag while entertaining investors on the green. Oh, and come April, it’s still gonna be pretty cold on the North East side of the country so I could definitely see our Natasha Kai warming up on the field wearing this adorable little beanie (a steal at $26, y’all).

But I think my favorite from the collection is this amazing sash-ified “Ferrari Jacket.” I am truly without words – especially because it sells for $125.

Someone with much cahones and perhaps a slight Michael Jackson fetish could really make this work with an outfit. I challenge WPS to try. No really. The league should slip this one in at an event of some sort. And whoever wears it will immediately become an instant favorite player of mine.
But in all seriousness, WPS also announced details for the 2009 draft. It will take place January 16th in St Louis and is open to the public. Anyone going?
(And sorry for being away for a little while. Had some family biznazz to attend to so I missed the whole West Coast Combine bit which apparently was quite successful.)

Ooh, that golf bag will go wonderfully with the pink set of clubs I own that haven’t been used since I’ve gotten them last Christmas! I’ll have to add it to the list.
