St Louis clinch second place
By: Melissa | August 2nd, 2009…and an automatic bye to the semi-final… August 19… in St Louis. They beat Boston 1-0. Tony DiCicco sat this one out per his one game suspension (…and fine… and community service – will he plant trees?). Tony also apologized (thnx for the heads-up Dustin). So now I guess everyone is happy again and all is right with the world. Speaking of, FC Gold Pride decided to wait until they were out of the playoffs before winning a game. This leads me to believe that Chicago will spend Sunday’s meaningless match against LA Sol bringing the big W to their home field. I was kind of hoping they’d just prop up cardboard cut-outs of Ryan Seacrest on the field then go fuck off to the bar. And don’t ask me why that vision popped into my head just now. I have a horrible head cold which is why I’m typing this up at 10:45pm on a Saturday night. This head cold was the reason for me to miss the aforementioned FC Gold Pride game and the fan tweetup afterwards. So I totally missed out on meeting the two lovely ladies on the left and right sides of the picture below. (and it looks like I also missed out on giant french fries!)

Ok. So now we’re looking at Washington, Boston, and Sky Blue to fight for a post-season. Boston are one point behind Washington and Sky Blue are two points behind Boston. Sky Blue have two more games to play while Washington and Boston have just one. I’m getting nervous just typing this.
And the W-League final is set. La Sol affiliates, Pali Blues will play Washington Freedom affiliates, uh, the Washington Freedom.

Thanks, Melissa … and I’m pretty sure that Leslie Osborne missed you, too.
