Picture of the Week

By: Melissa | March 22nd, 2009

Jairo of the Brazilian football team Figueirense, was forced to wear the above during practice because he was underperforming. According to coach Roberto Fernandes, the midfielder’s next game was excellent. Yes, there are so many things wrong with this punishment. The least of which is this fool’s big ol’ torso stretching out a perfectly good dress. A video accompanies this lovely pic…

…Aaaaaannnnnndddddd we are one week away from the first game. Today, I am hungover with anticipation (for reals, my head is killing me right now) watching America play Pumas on my `puter. And with WPS regular Sunday games on the horizon, I am renaming Soccer Sunday. From now on, Soccer Sunday is Hangover Football Sunday. So to recap the news I missed, teams started cutting their rosters, Philly expansion in 2010 is official (and in what looks to be a regular thing, WPS makes the announcement one day before MLS makes their expansion announcement and bogarts all the publicity for WPS), and Anheiser-Busch gives St Louis owner Jeff Cooper a 35 acre soccer park with a 6,000 seat stadium. I’ll drink to that!

Ideas are like the stars — we never reach them, but like mariners, we chart our course by them.
