Philadelphia gets a team

By: Melissa | May 28th, 2008

Big time congratulations are in order to Philadelphia as WPS announced today a Philly team will begin operations for the 2010 season. The newest WPS team’s inaugural season will coincide with the city’s MLS team’s first season and both clubs will likely share the Chester, PA soccer specific stadium. Commissioner Tonya Antonucci does not rule out more additions to the league and says they are pursuing “solid expansion opportunities in other cities with the intention of adding another team by year’s end.” Possible additions include the Bay Area, San Diego, Cary NC, or Atlanta.
