More Excitement Than You Can Shake A Stick At
By: Melissa | September 16th, 2008It’s allocation eve. A process Peter Wilt describes as “part Match.com, part medical school national matching day, part MLS SuperDraft.” And on allocation eve, the disturbingly quiet Los Angeles team announced Abner Rogers will be their head coach. Ok, there are two important facts I gleaned from this press release. One, AEG still own the LA WPS team. And they’ve always owned the LA WPS team. So why in the hell have they done nothing UNTIL NOW to promote the LA WPS team? Two, Rudi Bianchi is the “Managing Partner” of the LA WPS team (I’m not exactly sure what a Managing Partner is). Rudi Bianchi is (or was?) also the Director over at Pali Blues. A few months ago I went on a stupid rant here wondering why the LA WPS team never developed relations or partnerships with Pali Blues. APPARENTLY THEY DID. Little note to the marketing department over at the Home Depot Center: It’s a good thing when you let the rest of us know what you are up to. Just a fyi.
Ok, back to allocation. Goff reports Abby Wambach is going to the Freedom, Hope Solo is going to St. Louis, and Carli Lloyd is going to the Red Stars. The Red Card Blog also reports Lloyd is off to Chicago. Well, that’s good enough for me. Welcome to Chicago Carli. Speaking of, I just bought a Red Stars season ticket in their supporters section. Why? Shit, why not? It’s $99 and to be quite honest, Local 134 look really fun and organized. So basically, I’d like to figure out a way to attend the Red Stars home opener. It all depends on me finding cheap airfare to Chicago in April. So question to everyone reading this post – got any good tips for that? Also, for all the other games I cannot attend (you know, because I live in Oakland, California), I think I’ll come up with hilarious ways to give my ticket away on this blog. Stay tuned Chicagoans.

1. Exactly how does the married Peter Wilt know how match.com works?
2. I’m sure I’ll donate some of my tickets to your giveaways as well that way you have a nice set. This raises the question, though, are there Red Stars season ticket holder who are actually going to attend a game?
3. Couldn’t you get The Offside to sponsor your trip to Chicago for the opener? What if you liveblogged the game or something? Although, in April and not actually like being in a press box or anything I don’t know how well your fingers will work.
