Cat Whitehill is a Liverpool fan

That’s the kind of hard hitting news coverage you’re gonna get over here at the WPS Offside during these “lean months” where (presumably) everyone attempts to buy Holiday gifts with money they don’t have (thanks Greenspan… douche) while waiting impatiently for the next WPS draft in January.

Perhaps the biggest news story to surface recently is an announcement from USASA that their national cup competitions are gonna get a little facelift. Beginning in 2009, there will be a US National Women’s Cup “open to all USASA women’s teams. Players, both amateur and professional status, will be permitted to participate. There will be no age restrictions in this competition.” I’m not entirely sure if this may eventually become a women’s version of the Lamar Hunt Open Cup. Speaking of, why doesn’t Lamar just have a women’s tourney?

Oh right, and the LA team unveils it’s new name and logo tomorrow. The info was already leaked so this isn’t an exclusive or anything. Check out the logo to the right. Pretty cool, eh? And the name isn’t so bad either. LA Sol. The official announcement will be made at Sunday’s Galaxy game. Is Beckham even playing in that? I cant keep up with this stuff anymore. Note to Marta: DON’T LEAVE.
