You better catch a game before swine flu cancels CONCACAF: week 4? 5? review
By: Melissa | April 28th, 2009Sorry I’m a bit late on this but I just got so busy cornify-ing the WPS website. Here, I took a screenshot:

Booootiful I say. Anyways, where were we?
La Sol 0 – Saint Louis Athetica 0 Oh snap! La Sol are perhaps relying a bit too heavily on Marta to get the job done? And also missing Han Duan and Camille Abily took a significant chunk out of La’s offense. Saint Louis outshot the Sol 17 to 8 and there was a saved penalty for each side. First, Aly Wagner missed a shot against Hope Solo, then Lori Chalupny missed one against Katrina LeBlanc. And the rest of us wonder – after reading the stats on the game – why Saint Louis still can’t score. Maybe the goal posts are on fire? But seriously, I think many of us are excited to finally watch an Athletica game on tv this weekend cause this sh*t is just getting ridonkulous.

Chicago Red Stars 4 – Boston Breakers 0 So last week I mentioned something about a Vulcan mind meld and I guess that’s what happened. Goals from Carly Lloyd, Megan Rapinoe, Karen Carney, and Brittany Klein. And Boston kept Kelly Smith on the bench the whole time. Actually, I don’t need to write much about this game at all. Just watch the video highlights below and witness the former #2 ranked WPS team completely fall apart.

FC Gold Pride 3 – Washington Freedom 4 It was a last minute decision, but I found myself at this game (I literally jumped out of bed an hour before kickoff). I was crazy hungover but still don’t regret my decision. Seriously people, catch this one when it replays on Fox Soccer Channel. Abby Wambach found her mojo again and FC Gold Bonds f*cking came back from two goals behind. The winning goal happened during the last minute of extra time. No joke. All I really gotta say about this sh*t is, I know a few of the San Jose Earthquakes players were there and I sincerely hope they were taking notes on how to play soccer. Oh, and this game proved there’s crappy refereeing throughout all of CONCACAF. MLS isn’t the only league to receive the honor.
