Today is international signing announcement day
By: Melissa | February 3rd, 2009And I’m gonna hand it on over to the Women’s Soccer Show ’cause they’ve got all the press releases handy…
* The Chicago Red Stars signed Sweden’s Frida Ostberg and Caroline Jonsson.
* The San Jose Lions FC signed Brazil’s Formiga. (Have you all had a chance to bookmark the new FC Gold Pride Offside blog yet? Cause you should.)
* The Boston Breakers signed England’s Alex Scott.
* And yesterday, The Chicago Red Stars announced they signed Australia’s Heather Garriock.
So now the expected upcoming announcements are Homare Sawa to the Washington Freedom, Kelly Smith to the Boston Breakers, and Cristiane to the Chicago Red Stars (hey, she said it)… which is all well and good but I wonder when there are going to be contracts for our domestic players? The last I read on this topic was a report that the Washington Freedom came to terms with Lori Lindsey, Becky Sauerbrunn and Emily Janss. But I think that’s about it.

This is some exciting news. I also hear Aya Miyama will sign with LA today, with press at the HD center?
I hope the US WNT players start signing. I would love to know more about what is going on there.

and still no word on whether Eriko Arakawa will sign with FC Gold Pride … although the team did take her picture pretending to sign her contract last month (just in case she actually signs it this month)
